There is no doubt about it, a fireplace will enhance your living room, dining room or bedroom as a focal point. The question is does it add value? Expert New York designers from design 2 share say it does. In fact Irwin & Nicola love the Fireplace and say that putting fireplaces throughout the home aids in the sale of the home, and to ad most value make sure you put in a fireplace that suits the decor and is in a family room.

The January edition of Country Homes & Interiors is on the shelf and packed full of interior inspiration and things to do in January, such as winter walks, family theatre and fantastic new year retreats.  Also included is advice on choosing the style of Fireplace for the home, on page 60 is the Gallery Pembroke with a large solid fuel burning area.

QI series 6: Fire & Freezing

This year for the QI Christmas Special  (shown on BBC1) Stephen Fry and Alan Davies were joined by Dom Joly, Clive Anderson and Rob Brydon for a festive edition of the comedy panel quiz based around a fire theme.

Interestingly it wasn’t Alan Davies walking into the siren traps this episode but more Rob Brydon (I mean who hasn’t said at one time or another ‘oh it won’t snow today, its too cold to snow’ ), and he was funny with his detailed explanation that smoke not fire kills, and his dismissal of a heckler as he did his Richard Burton voice – “You wouldn’t know a good impression if it sat on your face.” I could mention other jokes but most were of an adult persuasion if you know what I mean (especially Fry who this time pushed the boundaries) so if you didn’t catch it I would recommend a visit to the BBC iplayer to see it yourself.
